UTEC member companies and organizations comprise one of the largest tax-paying blocks in West Virginia. The state collects more than $340 million each year from our members. In addition, electric generators using West Virginia coal indirectly contribute to revenue collected through severance taxes.

UTEC companies and organizations employ more than 26,000 hard-working West Virginians. The annual payroll tops $1.33 billion, while average annual wages exceed $50,000.

Our members have deep roots in West Virginia, and the collective capital investment of our membership is staggering. UTEC member companies have invested tens of billions of dollars in facilities and operations throughout the state, and this investment continues today with the construction of new pipelines, broadband and environmental improvement projects in various stages of development.
